Craftsman Collective began as a niche carpentry and remodeling crew focused on Craftsman style homes in Hyde Park. Influenced by movements like Art Nouveau, Japanese aesthetics, and American Shaker design, the Craftsman style champions simplicity, honesty of materials, and the beauty of handcrafted artistry. Craftsman homes emphasize natural materials, functionality, and a seamless connection with the outdoors. Inspired by our namesake, Craftsman Collective expertly handcrafts building elements that honor our fine woodworking heritage and the Hyde Park community.

Hyde Park holds a special place in Austin’s architectural history. Tracing its origins back to 1891, the greatest boom in Hyde Park occurred between 1924 and 1935, a period coinciding with the nationwide popularity of the Craftsman style. As a result, Hyde Park became (and remains) renowned for its Craftsman bungalows. These homes embody the ideals of simplicity, functionality, and handcrafted beauty.

Today, Hyde Park is a designated Local Historic District, with many of its homes recognized as City of Austin Historic Landmarks.
